0 PRESENT CONTINUOUS;BE GOING TO; WILL
Hello everyone!
You now have many tools to express future, but I'm going to sum up the most important things here:
FUTURE PLANS
To express something that is going to happen in the future but was decided in the past you have present continuous and be going to.
Present Continuous:
It describes an action that is going to happen in the future, but is something that you decided in the past
Next Monday I'm flying to Nottingham
(you decided it in the past)
Remember that you always need a time reference! (next year, next month...).
Be going to:
It has the same meaning as present continuous.
Next Monday I'm going to fly to Nottingham.
Will:
Will/won't + infinitive
It describes future actions, BUT it does not refer to things that you planned in the past but to things that you plan in the moment that you are speaking.(instant decisions)
Oh, It's very late I will come back home.
Oh It's very cold, I will close the window.
PREDICTIONS
To talk about predictions you use GOING TO and WILL
The sky is so dark, It's going to rain.
The match between Real Madrid and Barcelona will be exciting.
NOTE: you can use "will" to express other things that we are going to see in next lessons.
LET'S PRACTICE!!
